I once made this for a special dinner as part of a 3 course lunch, the flavours worked great together and it was nice to make it in the morning and just leave it in the slow cooker for the day leaving me free to talk and relax. It also made the kitchen and house smell great as it was cooking.

How to make it

Slow Cooked Lamb Boulangere

  • Persons: 6

  • Ingredients
  • 1.5kg lamb shoulder
  • 3 garlic cloves sliced
  • 2 onions sliced
  • 1kg maris piper potatoes sliced
  • Fresh thyme
  • 850ml chicken stock
  1. Instructions
  2. With a sharp knife make 2cm deep cuts into the lamb and push in the garlic to the gaps and then season
  3. Put half the onions in the slower cooker dish and then half of the potatoes then make a layer of half of the thyme and then half of the chicken stock
  4. Repeat this again with the remaining onions, potatoes, thyme and chicken stock
  5. Put the lamb on top of everything and cook for 6 hours, basting as needed from time to time
