I love doughnuts and making them is really easy, plus they’ll make the kitchen smell like you’re on holiday at the seaside!

They don’t last long though before they start going funny and stale so you have to eat these quickly, I’ve always managed to.

How to make them

  • Servings: 20

  • Ingredients
  • 500g strong white bread flour
  • 60g caster sugar
  • 7g dried yeast
  • 4 eggs
  • Zest 1/2 lemon
  • 125g butter
  • 1 litre of sunflower oil
  • Caster sugar (for dusting)
  1. Instructions
  2. Put the flour, sugar, yeast, eggs, lemon zest and a pinch of salt and 150ml of warm water in a large mixing bowl to mix well
  3. Add the butter in stages until all the butter is used and the dough is smooth
  4. Cover the bowl and let the dough double in size
  5. Cut the dough into around 20 pieces and roll into balls
  6. Pour all the sunflower oil into a pan and heat up
  7. When the oil is really hot, add in the balls a few at a time for about 2 minutes or until they are golden
